What is best for everyone varies, but I prefer a short, trimmed stubble that compliments my style, growing stubble is easy, but cropping it to the right length so that it does not become a full beard can be a challenge if you do not have the best stubble trimmer.
I’m sure you agree with me that stubble is everywhere nowadays. Let’s be honest.
Facial hair now becomes an accessory because it gives extra points for attractiveness, stubble trimmers are now important tools for maintaining facial hair. Is stubble pruning the same as beard trimmer or nose hair trimmer? No. However, they have similarities.
If you are not inclined to grow a full beard or do not like the way you look in one, consider stubble. the stubble is hot after all. Studies have proven it: women love stubble, and according to one study, the 10-day heavy stubble was the most attractive for the ladies €“ and even surpassed the clean-shaven and full-bodied look. That said, women will not just fall at your feet if you do not keep your stubble at its best.
Like everything else when it comes to taking care of men, you need the right tools. Specifically, you need the best stubble trimmer.
A beard trimmer maintains beards or longer facial hair, while a stubble pruning shears short facial hair. It is important to know the differences between the two to achieve the desired style. Fortunately, some big stubble teams will do the job.
In this article, I will discuss the difference between a stubble trimmer and other facial hair devices such as beard trimmers, electric shavers or hair clippers. I will give you tips on what to look for in your stubble trimmer and view three of the best to help you make a final decision.
We will also take a brief look at what distinguishes between stubble trimmers and other types of trimmers (and razors and hair trimmers).
Let’s start by providing information that can help you make an intelligent decision when it comes to picking best stubble trimmer.

Make Sure You Get The Best Stubble Trimmer :
There are dozens of functions that you can search for while shopping, but the best stubble trimmers have these characteristics as part of their design.
There are a few things to remember before you start looking for a high-quality stubble trimmers machine:
What Is A Stubble Trimmer?
- First, a stubble pick works best with lengths between 0.5 and 5 mm. It usually has a stubble background or has the word stubble to its name. A beard trimmer now works best at 5 – 15 mm, while razor blades for the super seam (0 mm) shave. And hair clippers are hair clippers. It is not intended that they do the detailed work that trimmers can handle.
- The real difference is how you want to look in public. A full beard looks great with many men, but may not be suitable for others. If the stubble look suits you, you need a trimmer that leaves just the right amount of hair when used properly. Stubble beard trimmers are designed to do exactly that while a beard trimmer, as mentioned, works best at longer lengths.
What does a stubble trimmer do?
Stubble is short facial hair, trimmed between 0.4 and 5 mm (1/64 ” and 13/64 ”).
It is currently a popular style with many reasons, especially because women find men with light to heavy stubble the most attractive.
With a high-quality stubble trimmer, you can grow for five to ten days without shaving and start fresh every two weeks.
Beard trimmers and stubble teams have a lot in common. They work in similar ways and deliver similar results, but there is an important difference between the two.
Stubble trimmers have settings that allow them to achieve an even cut with shorter lengths up to 5 mm, while beard trimmers work better in the range of 5-15 mm. (At least most of them).
Clippers may seem like another option to maintain your stubble, but because of their large and bulky designs, they do not do great to provide precision and it can be difficult to give a clean, even line and shape to your style.
Moreover, most hair trimmers have a limited number of guards, which means that they are usually too long or too short. I hated it when I had to cut short and wait for my beard to grow to the length I like.
What to look for when buying a stubble trimmer?
To get your look right, everything is about technology.
You want to choose a design that fits well in your hand, is easy to handle and does not require advanced mathematics to use. Look for options that are easy to configure to the desired length, have ergonomic designs and a simple on/off switch.
Do you use your stubble trimmer as a dry shaver or do you also need it to be compatible with water?
If you are someone who shaves in the shower, you prefer the feeling of a wet shave or want the convenience of a waterproofing device to make cleaning easy, then choose it to withstand your needs.
There are a few things to remember before you start looking for a high-quality stubble trimmer machine:
Designed and type of trimmer
When shopping for a new trimming tool, look for a trimmer that offers a head specially designed for stubble. A shaver for an electric shaver or a hair clipper cannot cut your hair to the right length. An electric shaver will shave your facial hair, allowing you to grow your beard again, while wide clippers don’t give you the control you want.
Settings and functions of your trimmer
Make sure that the shortest position of the trimmer is low enough to give you the desired cut that makes you most comfortable. This setting is suitable for hair of less than 1 mm (ideally 0.5 mm trim) – and it can even shape and trim your 5-hour shade. If it has a contoured head, trimming around the curves of your face will be a breeze and prevent cuts!
Is the mobility or portability of A Trimmer important for you?
The most popular beard trimmers are wireless for ease of use and easy maneuvering. However, some battery-operated models do not have devices with a plug. Fortunately, we have only selected the most powerful units on the market, so you shouldn’t have any problems with this.
Battery power and runtime can be limiting and extremely frustrating, especially if you are in the middle of a trim. View the battery life while browsing through your new trimming tool and how long it takes to fully charge the trimmer. Checking a fast charge function can also save you a lot of time and frustration!

As we said earlier, stubble suddenly represented a wow for men, growing stubble can turn your social life into something really fun. Actors and other celebrities ride on the stubble wave and there is no reason why you should not. Here are some tools to help you get that neat, yet irresistible stubble look.
1-Conair for Men Super Stubble – Wet/Dry
Making your stubble look better requires more than an ordinary trimmer and blade, and the Conair Super I-Stubble blade is not ordinary.
It has everything you need for a precision fit, among which is its advanced technology of electrochemically shaped blades that are extremely sharp and made to last.
While the blades are among the best on the market, there is much more to please about the Super I-Stubble Trimmer.
It has a wide range of lengths, from 0.4 mm to 5.0 mm, with ultra-precise motorized configurations for maximum length control. There is also a length memory function that remembers the length configuration you used last.
It also comes with an “ultra-flexible” shaving head that comfortably tracks the curves and crevices of your face, while providing the clean shave expected from a quality trimmer.
Also, it is versatile, since you can use it to cut your mustache, sideburns, and neck.
The Super I-Trimmer is ergonomically designed for comfortable use and comes in a long, smooth body that is easy to grasp and maneuver. And here’s another advantage: it comes with adjustable speed levels, which is unusual for trimmers in this price range.
Questions & Answers
Can I leave the super stubble on the charging doc? Or will that affect the battery life? I hear the battery life is what most people complain about
I shave every 3 days or so. I was leaving it on the charger all the time and did not notice a d3cli e in battery. I leave it off now though until it needs charged just in case it will affect the battery life down the road.
What is the difference between the "i-stubble" and the "super i-stubble"?
From what I can tell, the main differences are that the Super i-Stubble has a lithium-ion battery and is waterproof. Lithium-ion batteries generally need to be replaced less often and are more expensive than the battery inside the "normal" i-Stubble. The normal i-Stubble is also not waterproof.
Where can i find charger only for this product?
Oh, wow, I thought I was doing you a favor...It's 5 dollars LOL. never mind, It's in the trash.
The trimmer seems to be jammed. when i press the power button it shows a lock. how can i unjam it?
Refer to your instructional manual.
*** Please note: this assessment is for the SUPER I stubble, not the regular one. The Super version has very important functions that are not available in the cheaper version (water resistant, settings memory, etc.). You can choose which one you order by switching it from the main product page. First of all I want to say that my beard is made of steel and my skin is just as sensitive as a wet piece of paper. Moreover, my facial hair grows back at a ridiculously fast pace. It also grows in multiple directions. This makes shaving extremely irritating and almost useless. For that reason, I have resorted to using a double-sided safety razor to clean my neck and cheek area, while using a trimmer to maintain a stubble look. I have used many options, including both cheap ($ 20- $ 40) trimmers and expensive ($ 100 +) trimmers, and I have thrown them all away. This is the best I have used so far, and therefore: Waterproof: the Super I stubble is completely waterproof, making cleaning much easier. I don't like to cut my face in the shower, but for those who do this would also be a good plus. Memory: the trimmer has no combs to add / remove, it simply adjusts based on hitting the top or down arrows. When you turn it off, it remembers the last setting you've set, so when you turn it back on, it returns to that length. If you accidentally press the up or down arrow while shaving, the shaver will stop. This is good, so you don't accidentally shave too much. Display: the display is extremely useful. It constantly displays the current length that you have set and when you turn it on and off, it also shows how much time is left on the battery. I can't tell you how many times I've been in the middle of a trim with other products and it just dies down, leaving my face completely unfinished. That is why I switched to battery powered machines to prevent this, but now I don't have to worry anymore. There is also a 5-minute warning light that turns number 5 red and all the way up to 0 ° C. Power: The power is fine. It is not the strongest trimmer I have used, but it does the job. I must EVER use any type of trimmer or razor that will trim or shave my beard in one go. My hair just grows in too many directions, lies flat against my face in some areas and is very thick. I have to use multiple steps from different angles to get the look I want, but I am used to expecting that right now. When I roll back the protector and only use the hair clipper on the lowest length setting (no setting), it is very nice and I get one of the most beautiful finishes I have experienced. Battery: The battery is fine for me. 3 hours of initial charge (do not forget this) and then 90 minutes for each charge thereafter. Battery lasts 60 minutes, which is perfect. The trimmer also remained constant from 60 to 0 constant. It never noticed or became 'weak' at the end, which I really liked. Maintenance: it's easy to clean and although you should oil it all at once while you MUST not like some other trimmers require this. But really if you want it to last for a long time, you should oil it every now and then. Geheid: This is the only setback for me, and it's not really that bad. The plastic protective cover that adapts is not made of extremely hard plastic. For this reason, if you press your skin too hard, the protector can actually be pushed closer to the trimmer head, resulting in some areas with shorter trimmed hair. I have noticed that it is not terrible, and by using uniform pressure everywhere and letting the contouring head go along with your face, you should have no problem. This is the only reason why I took away a star, since this product is a bit pricey. But again, I have experienced it much worse with other trimmers and if you have mastered it, you should be fine. All in all, I am very picky about what I use now, because my stubble has become a part of my appearance - because I hate shaving so much. If I encounter problems with this product later, I will update this review, but for most people this should be the perfect solution to maintain everything from a shadow to stubble to a beard.
FINALLY: The Real Stubble Look. The Conair Super i-Stubble delivers—as in—It does EXACTLY what it is designed to do.If you want the stubble look, understand how to use the unit effectively, and don’t try to make it into something it’s not, you will be more than happy and may potentially have your expectations exceeded.Majority of the random statements regarding unevenness, patchiness, and disputing the waterproof claim, are more than likely an issue of user error, ill-informed hopes, and perhaps the result of being upset they don’t have the hair follicles of the rich and famous. The Noteworthy:The Super Stubble IS ABSOLUTELY water-proof. If the unit you purchased is not, then you could have been a recipient of a random “bad apple” but I can personally attest to the waterproof versions aptitude, and ability to shave anything and everything underneath a full raining shower without a worry. If you got unlucky, which is very unlikely, then just return it.When it comes to the claims of uneven trims and patchiness, it’s important to realize you’re dealing with a trimmer that is pressure-sensitive. The amount of pressure you put on the body/head will impact the amount of hair cut off your face. (or any body part)If you want it to cut more hair off, DON’T press harder and deeper into your face, just lower the MM Setting and keep a smooth and steady motion. It’s simple. This is not one of those super noisy horse-powered beard trimmers. Don’t expect it to be. It’s for the short stubble look and doesn’t have the power to trim your mountain man beard of awesomeness. There are other products for that, but not this. The Cradle in which the trimmer rest, is where it receives its charge from. There are two small metal dots on the lower 1/16th of the trimmer essentially connect with the cradles resting spot and establishes a charge. The cradle also comes with suction flooring, enabling the cradle and trimmer to remain steady and secure while not in use.The trimmer is fully wireless while in use.It starts its full charge, LED Notification at “70.” This does not mean 70 percent, but really “70 min” and 100 percent charged. It’s just the way it was created. The trimmer length’s ranges from 0.4 to 5.0 and (24 lengths) and has the ability to release the cover guard back into a snap-back position where users can reach a 0.0 level without any issue of snagging hairs, cut veins, or sliced jugulars. This machine is undoubtedly the smoothest cutting unit in its league. I’ve encountered no skin irritations when in use to the point that it’s strange. But I'm not complaining.Dilly, Dilly! Long live the King.
The Conair for Men Super Stubble is the best beard trimmer that you will ever own. Whether you trim your beard once a month to multiple times a week, the capability of this trimmer is endless. It comes with a 70-minute run time, the whole trimmer is water proof, multi setting trim lengths with precision, long lasting battery life, and many other important features. All of which ensure that no matter how often you need your beard trimmed it will always perform better than its competitors.WaterproofThere are two features that make the Super Stubble perfect for beard trimming, the first being waterproof. If you have ever owned a non-water proof trimmer in the past then you know how true that statement is. Your razor will be fill and clogged with hair if you cannot clean it properly and the best way to clean it properly, is to run it under water. If it is clogged you will begin to see less power in the trimmer, more tugging and pulling of hairs (which hurts), and the length you desired will not happen. No matter how well the trimmer performs, it will always fail you if it cannot be cleaned well. Also, if you prefer shaving in the shower then now you have the option to do it with your electric trimmer.Electric Length ControlIts precise millimeter length control, with length memory, is the second reason the Super Stubble is incredible. The trimmer has fifteen different length settings from 0.4mm to 5.0mm, making it versatile for any user. This allows you to customize your beard exactly how you want it and if you did not like the length last time you trimmed, then you have fourteen other options. A feature easily missed is the length setting memory automatically recalls the last length that you used. Whether you shave often or barely ever, this feature will save you a lot of trouble. If you shave multiple times a week, you will not have to waste time picking the correct length every time because it will be ready to use right away. If you do not shave often then you will not have to try hard remembering the last millimeter you shaved to.Assuming you are trying to find the perfect beard trimmer for you, then you have come to the right product because the Conair for Men Super Stubble is the best beard trimmer on the market right now.
I have tried most electric beard trimmers on the market and this is by far the best. For so many reasons, including the fact that it is automatically adjusted to the desired length and you don't have to switch off different Wayne columns. By the way, I leave this review with my wife's account because she bought it for me. The bottom line is that you will not find a better electronic beer trimmer on the market today and that the price is worth it. I bought two in case they stopped selling them, because I always want one in reserve.
2-Philips Norelco Beard & Head Trimmer Series 5100, BT5215/41
While the Philips Norelco Series 5100 trimmer is not a specific stubble model, it has the tools to do the job. This wet and dry razor works with a lithium-ion battery that takes an hour to charge and lasts up to 70 minutes.
Use self-sharpening steel blades to shape your style to 17 pre-set lengths ranging from 0.4 mm to 13 mm (1/64 ” – 1/2 ”). You can set the cut length with a dial.
It comes with a 5-year warranty and is completely washable. Included with the trimmer are a beard comb, body comb, two hair cutting combs, a travel bag, and cleaning brush.
This powerful manual shaver is extremely easy to use. The shape is comfortable in your hand, and although it is of plastic construction, it feels bulky. It is easy to maneuver to obtain perfect lines. It works quickly and does a good job of cutting thick facial hair.
Questions & Answers
in the zooming wheel, what does the 6.4 under the 0.4 mean?
Both sets of numbers are the setting in millimeters (mm) of beard length you can expect to get with that setting using one of the three guards provided. One guard (with the red strip) is for beards. The other two (one with a red stripe and one with a silver strip) are for cutting hair. The smaller red numbers are with the either the "red" beard guard installed (with the red stripe) or the "red" hair guard. The larger silver numbers are with the "silver" hair guard (with the silver strip). All these numbers are approximate, and will likely vary somewhat depending on your beard/hair and shaving technique. So to be safe, I would start with the longer (bigger number) settings either using the beard (for beard trimming) or hair (for hair cutting) guard, and then work down to a shorter (smaller number) setting that seems right for you.
Can I get get a 0.4 mm trim while using the safe guard comb ? If not what the sortest I can do with the safe guard comb attached
Yes, 0.4 mm is actually the shortest increase in the length button.
What is the difference between this and the 3500 version (which is only $30)?
I think the batteries are the major difference in cost and capacity. My 3500 often ran out at the wrong time. Usually just before going out.... the 3500 uses 2x AAA NiMH , quite different, apart from that they sure look the same
Where do I buy replacement parts? My adjustable plastic guide broke.
I compared this beard trimmer very carefully and read reviews here and in Google. This seemed to be the best of the bunch. You're wondering about the heading, right? I purchased the more expensive BT5210/41 because I wanted the body comb that comes with it. I wasn't sure that it was worth it but the $10 coupon (now suddenly $15) made the price difference largely go away.My comments about the Basic trimmer (BT5210/42) are purely 5-star comments so I won't dwell on them here, The outstanding assets of this product are: 1. Very powerful, does a yeoman's job removing heavy rubble, 2. Very flexible with the ability to dial in a wide range of cutting heights from a half inch down to a 64th inch, enabling you to remove enough non-beard facial hair to possibly avoid a second shave with a safety razor, 3. allows corded trimming, if preferred or if charge runs low, 4. recharges fully in 1 hour vs possibly 8 hours with some trimmers, 4) does not require oiling, 5. washes with running water. In all I'm very happy with the purchase. Now ... what I want to share with you is some possible deceit on the part of Phillips/Norelco in offering the model BT5210/41 for an extra $13 (when I bought it one week ago) less a $10 coupon, now a $15 coupon. This is so stupid! They have what they consider an upscale version by throwing in a pouch and a body comb for a ridiculous extra fee and then immediately eliminating that fee with their coupon. Why the heck not just have a single model and sell it at the lower price. They clearly have a manager somewhere who needs a checkup from the neckup.OK, a few words on the benefits of the 2 throw-ins on the "deluxe" version. The pouch is filimsy, totally nonprotective, and probably undesirable to most people. A dollar store wouldn't even carry it because no one would pay that much. Now to the "body comb". I will bet the farm that there is no such thing as a "body comb". This comb is a carbon copy of the "beard comb" in the basic model. The only difference I could see, under extremely careful examination, is that it has a silver stripe painted on it instead of a red stripe. I called Norelco support to ask about this and they couldn't explain what the difference was. The woman I spoke with asked me to hold the line while she located the product and compared the two combs for herself. Naturally my call was disconnected shortly and with no call-back. You'll love this: I did a search on the Norelco web site of BT5210/41 and it isn't shown as a product!!!! Bottom line is my advice to buy the "deluxe" model, which is now cheaper than the base model because of the upgraded coupon, and you'll receive a second beard comb free. That could be important because the trimmer won't be of much use to you if the comb breaks. A replacement comb is not listed on their web site as an accessory. That's it folks. I hope someone found it worthwhile to read this lengthy review. --- Sam
I was used to $20 to $30 trimmers so the build quality on this one really surprised me. It does a great job at trimming body hair with the included guide. For my beard I like using 5mm for a clean look. It also does a good job at cleaning up my neck hair line without cutting my skin. The battery is pretty decent, I don't need to recharge it that often.
I’ve had this since April of 2018 and it’s worked great for me. Like many others I was looking to replace an old trimmer and had trouble finding an adequate option, but this one is great.I looked thru the poor reviews and a lot of them seem silly. Like the noise? Lol. It’s a trimmer, it’s not going to be silent.. imo it’s not loud at all, about average in the noise dept. And as for cutting the skin, I’d have to insist those are probably user error. There IS a wrong way to go about trimming a beard after all. Granted, I primarily use this for maintaining a neat stubble look, but I’ve worked in the men’s grooming industry and am very familiar with shaving and beard maintenance, as well as the proper tools to use.I believe for the price this is a solid option. Is it a set of professional clippers? No. But for someone just looking for some at home beard maintenance every few days or so I feel it’s a solid option. Big wins are the ability to rinse it out under water, and the ability to use it while it’s plugged in just in case it’s dead when you go to use it after a while.
I ordered a lot of things, it came in a package with literally zero padding, unfortunately the internal support box of plastic with the trimmer was cracked, because there was no padding, because the device was not damaged, I didn't ask for a refund . I was very disappointed. Ask for padding! However, Amazon support was great. And they also gave me money back for other items. Always buy fulfilled items and items sold directly by Amazon. Less stress! 1- As a man, I learned my lesson, buy an expensive, high-quality trimmer. That is it. My humble opinion.2- It is not bad, but I am more of a premium product. I had another Philips trimmer / shaver and that's why I bought this, but I think the price should have been an indication that this would not be a premium. If you are pampered with premium trimmers, you cannot go back.3- you should buy this if you are not interested and you want something that you could replace every year / 6 months .. I think4- Do not buy this if you want a fully washable trimmer, that's not it. go to the Philips website and read the user manual. in fact make it a habit, always read the user manual before you buy, specially online.5- it trimmed and was not painful (i have thick hair) but i felt a BIT agitated. It wasn't as awful as the Wahl trimmer I ever bought and used ONLY for a SINGLE trim. it was terrible and painful. This is a 3-star product. Hope this helped 🙂
3-Conair for Men I-StubbleAs its name implies, the I-Stubble trimmer comes from the same family tree as the Super I-Stubble trimmer. As he also suggests, Conair knows clearly what he does when it comes to trimmers.
There are not many differences between the two Conair trimmers, and you really can not go wrong with either one.
They share the same blades in an electrochemical way that are precise, sharp and durable, both have a unique floating head to contour with precision, both have an ergonomic design that feels good in the hand and is easy to maneuver.
However, the I-Stubble is not water-resistant and, therefore, cannot be rinsed under the tap.
Apart from that, these trimmers are very similar and very effective. One has some things, but we believe that both will serve you well. Here is another view of the I-Stubble trimmer:
Questions & Answers
How do I put the blades back on after cleaning under them? There are 2 very stiff little hooked wires in the way.
It should just clip back on, if you are holding the blades on their own, unattached from the main body, sorry you have broken it
will this work on your head also, or do you have another product for that?
Actually yes! A friend of mine uses his to keep his head trimmed.
what the difference between this GMT900R and GMT900?
According to Conair cusomer support, they are identical, with the GMT900R being a more recent model. When reading through the descriptions of both, I could find no difference with the exception of the price. I bought the 900 for my son and he loves it. Some of his friends have seen it and they've purchased the same product because they liked my son's so much. Hope this helps you.
Which charger cable does this come with? Is it compatible with Australian 240v sockets?
The mine is compatible with the standard American socket and has no modular head.
I've been using this trimmer for 5 full years. Here's a timeline of how my perception of this trimmer has changed:2014 - This thing works great! It has a lot of power for something that uses a battery, and I get about 3 full trimming sessions before I need a recharge. I love the adjustable head and how I can fine-tune the smaller measurements to get my beard looking perfect. I also love that I can remove the guard to clean up my neck and get more defined beard lines on my face. My only gripe is that it's still hard to trim close to my nostrils. But most razors this size have the same problem, so I'm not too bummed about it.2015 - This thing still works great, but it's starting to die sooner and sooner. I'm lucky if I can trim my face twice without having to recharge this. I start plugging it into the charger, which is a large wall A/C adapter with a long 5 ft cable, after every use. It's only a minor inconvenience though, so I still really like this thing.2016 - The battery is now lasting just under a full trimming session, so I decide to look into replacing it. Well, it turns out that the battery is not only proprietary, but also soldered into the device. Without a soldering iron, I have no means of replacing the battery. The good news is that if it dies before I'm done, I can just charge it for another 15 minutes, come back, and finish the job. So I'll keep doing that - again, it's only a minor inconvenience, and I'm willing to deal with it for now.2017 - Now the battery is completely dead. It will only last about 10 seconds if it isn't plugged in. Again, I can't replace this battery without soldering equipment and somehow procuring a proprietary replacement battery that ConAir doesn't sell. However, the trimmer STILL works if I keep it plugged in the whole time when I'm shaving. The wire for the charger is long enough that I can easily do this with only another minor inconvenience. So, since I'm too cheap and lazy to find a new razor, I guess I'll keep doing that.2018 - The trimmer has reached the point that it won't stay on for more than a minute even plugged into the charger! Also, if I change guard lengths and turn it back on too quickly, it immediately dies. What were only minor inconveniences before turn into huge pains. I'm starting to miss spots when trimming because I have to stop mid-trim to let it recharge.2019 - I've maximized the life of this trimmer, and it is barely functional anymore. I think it's time to buy a new one.TL;DR: This is a great trimmer for the price, but it is not, by any means, a "buy it for life" item. Only expect to use it for around 2 years, maybe 3 tops if you're as patient as I am, before having to replace it. If they actually sold replacement batteries for this, I would rate it an instant 5/5. But because of the short lifespan, I have to lower the rating.
Worked fantastic for a few months. The 0.4 mm setting was great for work, so at the end of the day it would not get out of hand and the 0.6 mm settings were great to go for a few hours. Started with problems after a month that solved itself (the clipper would crash and only work at 0.4 mm and 5 mm, the shortest and longest settings, but finally reset). After two months, the clipper began to postpone switching on and off and only worked on the 5 mm setting and refused to adjust, thereby essentially ignoring the purpose of the product. The product received 3 stars because it worked great when it really worked, although the quality of the product seems to be a recurring problem for buyers, which makes me very reluctant to buy another. This time I decided to go with a Philips Norelco Beard Trimmer Series 3500, 20 built-in length settings, QT4018 / 49, hopefully it will take longer than two months.
Hey It's Joel
This thing is legit. Being able to buzz hair on my head down to 0.4mm is the reason I bought it. I use 0.8mm for my facial stubble. Sexaaaay! At first I stared at it and thought, "what an ugly little thing." But using it for a while, i realize and appreciate its form and function. It is able to bend easily to the curvatures of your face ensuring a nice, even cut. Very well designed.Pricey, but you do get what you pay for.
This is by far the best for those seeking the look of a 2 day stubble look (or for cultivating a beard) and there's nothing in the ballpark that's as good as it's electronic gauge for measuring the closeness. Down to .04mm. Can even shave a bit closer when moving the 'guard' back and away from the cutting blade. However, it just doesn't come close to the Norelco OneBlade as far as receiving the closeest & most comfortable 'electric' shave.
4-Philips Norelco Beard trimmer Series 3500, QT4018/49This Philips Norelco beard trimmer is intended for dry use only and comes with a lithium-ion battery that works for up to 120 minutes after 1 hour of charging.
It uses skin-friendly, self-sharpening titanium blades to deliver a stubble strip to one of the 20 built-in settings without having to change the comb. You can choose between 0.5 mm and 10 mm length with increments of 0.5 mm.
Although the device itself is not waterproof, the individual heads are washable. It comes with the trimmer, comb and cleaning brush. You receive a 45-day risk-free trial and a two-year warranty on this purchase.
The setting function with one click is extremely user-friendly because you do not need to replace combs if you want a longer or shorter length. The ergonomic handle fits great in your hand, but you want to slow down and take time with this shaver.
Questions & Answers
Will this trim neckbeards and sideburns? I want the hairs shorter not completely gone
Yes it does, President Lincoln
Can this trimmer be used while charging? (ie, while plugged in?)
Yes, you can use it while plugged in or use with just battery. It will not charge while turned on. Must be turned off to charge.
Do I really need 20 built-in length settings? because there's one with 10 built-in settings. Mid thick facial hair.
You probably don't need 20 settings, but the real benefit is knowing that no matter the length you keep your beard, you'll have a setting that should work - no matter how long I keep my beard, I'll find a setting that works - etc.
Can you cut hair with it too
Mainly geared towards stubble and beard. However, if you have short hair, this could possibly work. Some other product, with a multi-functioning aspect, would be a better choice.
I actually paid for this trimmer. Feels a little ridiculous since Philips apparently gives these things away like there's no tomorrow if the sponsored comments are any indication. But rest assured, I actually bought it and owe the manufacturer nothing. So, it's a nice trimmer. When I was shopping around on here, I was mainly concentrating on device maintenance and the versatility of the device without an army of additional attachments. For me, I use a few different settings to trim my beard, longer on my face, closer on the moustache, no guard for shaping. And this thing does a good job. The guard feels fairly stout, like it won't be giving out or cracking anytime soon. The device doesn't appear to be overly needy or anything like that, though the instruction manual for any trimmer will essentially recommend you give the thing a full spa treatment and dinner out at The Palm before and after each use. Very quick charge, one hour will turn the light solid green which (allegedly) will last for two hours of use, though I haven't tested that yet. If all that turns out to be true (and it did fully charge within one hour), I don't think you can get better than that in terms of charge vs. usage. Anyway, the rotating dial that adjusts the guard is fine, certainly nothing to freak about in terms of innovation. Just a little gimmick thing. I guess more than anything the motor on the thing just really tears, so you feel like you're getting a good cut. It's just a nice device, perhaps a little heavy on the price at $40, but quite honestly, you don't have to buy trimmers very often in my experience. Are you going to regret dropping $40 on a device that directly impacts how you like to look and will probably not have to replace for the next five years? Personally, I doubt it. I think there's definite value in the long run. I have no problem cutting corners or going cheap on plenty of other stuff, but why on a beard trimmer? Just seems short-sighted when you're going to use the thing at least a few times a month and on your face.Oh, and the last thing about this thing that I really like is the lack of attachments. It's just one guard/comb trimmer with 20 settings, one mini brush thing for cleaning it, the power cord, and one little bag if you want to use it. I think that's pretty great streamlining, especially if you travel. No one wants to pack like they're going to a barber's convention.
I love the dial-a-depth adjustment and the simplicity of a single comb attachment. I don't want to be storing and changing combs for every different length I want to trim. Its the reason I bought this one. It goes as short as .5 mm, and goes up in .5 mm adjustments from there. But really, once past, say, 2 mm, 1 mm increments would be fine. Though that would be more difficult to do with the way this dial works, so I understand why they didn't.This thing is powerful, the charge lasts a long time, and I just love everything about it. Except for One Thing. And its a big thing for me. The way the comb is designed, you have to hold the device at just the correct precise angle to get it to trim to the exact length the dial is set for. That's not an issue at all if you're using any of the lengths beyond say, 2 mm. Your hair doesn't grow perfectly evenly, so its perhaps a more natural appearance if every hair isn't the exact same length. But if you're using this for one of its signature features, the stubble look, its a huge problem. You dial the comb for .5 mm, but unless you've got it at the exact correct angle, you're really cutting to maybe 1 to 2 mm. So you end up with some parts of your face close to .5 mm, but most of the rest of it somewhere between 1 mm - 2 mm. To get them all close to .5 mm, you have to keep going over and over and over the same areas, each time trying to find that elusive angle to get the full depth of cut. What this replaces is a super cheapo, and old, AA battery powered trimmer with dull blades and a finicky power switch. that thing has this sliding comb that you manually extend to desired length. There are no marks to indicate length, you just guess. It has detents to set the comb at specific positions, but you can easily set it to any spot between those set spots. It can go as short as .5 mm. This old piece 'o junk works way better than this new, much more costly, sophisticated name brand device, all because of the design shape of its comb. The old unit cuts to the length you set. Sure, if you really hold it at an off angle, it cuts a little longer than you have it set for. But the sweet spot, where it cuts to, or very, very close to the length you set it to, is wide. Meanwhile for this Norelco trimmer, the sweet spot is elusive. If you aren't going to use the stubble feature, this thing is excellent. If you are buying it for the stubble feature, be prepared to endure the abrasion, and time, involved in repeatedly going over the same areas over and over, trying to obtain the setting you've dialed in on the knob.
I bought this based on prior reviews, which is a strategy that's worked pretty well for me in the past (thanks Amazon reviews), but this time I'm just leaving than impressed. What can I say about this trimmer?Well . . . it's okay. I mean, it's fine. It works. It trims my beard. It's adjustable. I was hoping the typo in the description that said it was adjustable out to 2 cm was accurate, but it isn't. But I didn't really expect it to be, since there are no beard trimmers out there that think you need your beard to be any longer than 1 cm. That's just the industry apparently, so it's not really a knock against this trimmer in particular. It's pretty loud, I suppose. And it's not waterproof. And the plastic feels kind of cheap and brittle. And the rounded end of the guard doesn't do much to comb or lift hairs in order to trim them. One wonders if they're just being tamped and smoothed down instead. Should help the blade life that way, I suppose. So there's that.So my fiscally calculated step down from my Panasonic to appease my loving other half has not really borne the feature packed fruit I'd hoped it would.I should have expected that from the price. I suppose I technically did, but you're always hopeful that you'll end up being surprised. With this one, you won't. It's exactly the thirty dollars trimmer you'd expect it to be and absolutely no more. It'll trim your beard, but it won't really make you feel good about it.
When my trusty old Norelco was recently commandeered for “sanitary trim” of our cat, I set about looking for an exact replacement. For 20+ years I had my QT4021 and it’s predecessor, which was identical but for the guide color. It was a simple, sturdy, highly-usable design, at a fair price point. I would have thought little more than a lithium battery upgrade was warranted. No such luck. So into the maze of products and reviews I wandered, thinking back to the simplicity of buying my last two off the shelf at Walgreens, sans any starred feedback. I considered ones with vacuums and others meant for beard, body and more and just couldn’t get a clear picture in my head of how they would improve on what i had. So I went simple, and it seems to have turned out well. With the exception of the slightly changed blade angle and the ridiculous half-steps on the dial, I guess this is as close as they make to a direct replacement of my old one. I’m including some comparison photos, on the off-chance you are looking for the same thing I was.

One load can take about a week. Users can, therefore, enjoy many shaves via one load.
easy to clean the device. Although intended for the beard, it can also be used to shave the head.
Also, extra attachments can be useful. For example, the adjustable comb works perfectly and does not bend or break.
Online customer reviews suggest that the product works best when fully charged. At full load, it is given enough energy to carry out the work efficiently.
One of the problems with this product is that the length guide seems a little fragile due to the built-in plastic. When it is pressed against the face, it tends to bend. This makes it possible for someone to shave better than expected.
Questions & Answers
what are the exact length settings??
It goes from 0 mm to 10 mm in steps of 0.5 mm (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, ...)
What are the length settings?
The length settings are on a scale of 1 to 10 and you can also do half clicks. I recommend this shaver / trimmer because the settings are very accurate and they remain locked once you have selected the length.
Can you trim body hair with this trimmer?
Is this waterproof?
It says in the book that you can run water under it to clean it.
This is exactly what I was looking for. For a while I've been trying to find a way to trim my beard to a shorter level to get that stubble look. I used to always grow my beard, get the stubble naturally for a very short time before my beard would grow to be too big and look unkempt. I was forced to shave it all off and start over. This device lets me choose exactly the length I like for my stubble (#3). You can even take the red guard off and use it as a regular shaver. Charging is simple and last me at least 4 shaves (I shave about once or twice a month). One advice I have is that you use this trimmer with the buttons and main logos facing away from you. The first time I used this trimmer I was using it with the buttons facing towards me and it didn't work very well, leaving different sized patches all over the face. Once I turned it over it worked like a charm.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who can grow a full beard and prefers a stubble.
This is a very good trimmer for the price compared to others out there. The only deficiency is that the plastic length adjuster seems a little fragile and when you press it against your face, it bends and tends to cut closer than the setting you choose. If you are careful it is not too big a problem but in the design, I would have like to see that they firmed up the length adjuster so that it cannot bend or flex from its selected length. Thanks.
I was skeptical given the price but the product reviews sold me on this. They were absolutely right - this thing is amazing. I get really precise length that's even and allows me to create the very light stubble look much better than trimmed 4x its price. My only complaint with this, and it's very minor, is that there's no status light on the trimmer to tell you when it's fully charged. There is a green light on the adapter but that stays on all the time.
So I'm really liking this thing so far. Without the depth control attachment on, It's great for shaping up the beard at the jaw line. I've also been using it as a replacement for individual razors to clean up the neck area. That's where i had to knock off a star. It seems to not have quite enough power (full charge also) to do the job efficiently, thus needing to go over the same area multiple times. Other than that though, I was actually impressed how many shaves i got out of it on a single charge. I also thought the depth attachment worked fine, and like the look I get out of the #4 setting.

Questions & Answers
The information pamphlet included states how to dispose of the battery & alludes to a "battery replacement service" Can I purchase a new battery?
I just replaced the battery in mine. Look in "aa battery welding" for a suitable AA size NiMH battery with solder terminals. Someone with a # 1 slim Phillips screwdriver and a soldering iron can replace it quite easily (routing small wires is the only real challenge). I put a 2300mAh cell in mine and it works like new, better probably because the cell has much more capacity than the previous one.
What is the typical setting for trimming eyebrows to keep them tidy? I tried 4MM but was wondering what the consensus might be.
I keep mine to 3.5 mm. Works for me!
Lithium Ion Battery?
No, this shaver uses a nickel-metal hydride battery.
I broke the clipper head on my trimmer, can I order one new on amazon.
You can order it directly from Panasonic https://panasonic.encompass.com/model/MSCERGB40S/_/_/Panasonic/ERGB40S/Wet_dry_Hair___Beard_Trim
Wonderful trimmer Great wet and dry cut and no more to match all the accessories. Very easy to pack too. Just keep in mind one thing when you're cutting, it has sharp edges in the guard
I bought this beard trimmer about a year and a half ago. I love the fact that I can take it in the shower and cut everything and then go back out and for any detailed work that may be necessary. I am a person who really likes that most of my toilet is done in the shower so that the hair disappears down the drain. I never had the battery exhausted before I finished trimming. General maintenance is easy and I cut my hair evenly. My only major problem with the product is that there are no additional accessories available to buy it. Recently I wanted to grow my beard for longer, but I want it to look good. Unfortunately, the provided beard comb only reaches 1 cm (or 10 mm). At 1 cm, it just does not provide enough length to keep a nice thick beard (1 cm actually is not very long). And that would be fine if Panasonic had some kind of additional beard combs available to increase the length of the beard cut. I would buy them in addition to the original trimmer. However, now I face the purchase of a completely new trimmer with more accessories to get the molding I want, although the product still works well.
Ed the Fred
I had a Panasonic that my son gave me for Christmas about 6 years ago. He was quite good and did his job well. I was a little clumsy with all the attachments, but I got used to it until it finally faded away. This Milano is a true step forward of that. Easy to use, silent, tactile, easy to clean, excellent cutting ability with my very fine hair and looks really good just hanging in the bathroom. I have seen some videos and they can not equally represent the hands in use and the length marking capacity of this small machine. Actually I'm using this more than the previous one because of that. Good product!

Questions & Answers
Can you use the cord or do you have to recharge the trimmer.
This product can only be used without a cord.
If the battery is completely dead, can the shaver run with the cord? I've seen different comments...
Does, philips norelco multigroom series 3000,13 attachments, mg3750 come with batteries? and if yes, whaat kind of battery?
It has a lithium ion built in battery. It is not replaceable.
What are the voltage ratings for this trimmer?
100-240 Volts and 50/60 Hz
I used this to shave my entire body and ended up with a big ball of hair the size of my fist. I didn't want anyone to know that I shaved myself so in my panic, I flushed the big hairball down the toilet. This was a mistake as it ended up clogging the drain.Needless to say our entire bathroom floor is flooded with water and a plumber is fixing the toilet as I write this.10/10 would buy again.
Don't spend a bunch of money on a trimmer, this is perfect! I'm a man-scaper and like to stay well groomed, this is the perfect trimmer and more. I use the nose hair adapter and several guards to trim my beard, chest hair, and head hair. It also is a great edger and has a great battery life. My $300 Wella trimmer that was gifted to me finally crapped out and I couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money on something that I could get for way less. After researching and reading other reviews I decided to buy this and haven't been disappointed since. Great product I got my money's worth and then some. This would make a fantastic gift also.
I got this to replace a Gillette trimmer that died after a few years of use. The Phillips one is great! It was cheaper than what I paid for the old one a couple of years ago and is of a much higher quality. It comes with tons of different heads, and gets the job done. Just a tip, If you're using this for "personal" grooming, be careful! Its sharp. >.>
This trimmer, for the price, cannot be beat. I would easily have paid $50 for this trimmer. The build and feel is solid, sleek and ergonomically comfortable in the hand. It’s also incrediblely good looking. It doesn’t have that cheap plastic, fragile look to it other trimmers do. The nose hair trimming attachment is fantastic, the best I’ve used to date. I use all of the attachments and clips provided.I like to keep my beard at a slightly longer length than just stubble, more “scruffy” if you will. The grey beard attachments glide across the skin well without hurting, and it only takes a few passes to get all the hairs trimmed as the motor is strong. I use the three shortest attachments, as different areas of my facial hair grow in more densely than other areas. When I’m finished, my beard has a picture perfect evenness to it that I know I can replicate every time, which excites me because my appearance is important in my line of work. The hair trimming attachments are the real gem of this product that I did not anticipate using. I wouldn’t have thought to use them until I watched the product video provided. I use the longest length to trim the sides of my head around my ears, as I like to keep my hair longer on top to style it. This attachment cuts it short enough without showing the scalp/skin beneath. I can now extend the length of time between my haircuts which saves me time and money. My only issue with this product is that my hair does not grow fast enough to justify using it everyday. I seriously look forward to turning it on.
How to use a stubble trimmer
Just like any other trimmer. However, here are some things to take into account:
Find the right model
With the reviews and all the advantages and disadvantages of specific stubble trimmers below, there is no doubt that you will find the model that suits you best.
If you are a traveler, choose a model with better battery capacity. Or maybe you prefer the one with many different combs and length settings.
Variations in height settings are especially useful for men who experiment with different stubble styles from time to time.
If you want to cut your beard in the shower, find a watertight model. Waterproof trimmers are also easy to clean with water and removing the enclosed hair is easy.
Find the correct stubble length
Not every stubble-like style looks good just because it looks good to other boys.
Your face shape will tell you which style to convince, but you have to experiment with a few before you find the one you’re happy with.
Follow the pattern
Make sure that every movement you make with your trimmer matches the pattern of the style you have chosen.
Some styles require longer sideburns and shorter hairs in the neck. For other styles, the mustache is shorter and the beard is longer.
Be sure to cut your stubble according to the pattern, regardless of the situation.
Clean your trimmer
Stubble trimmer, like any other beard trimmer, must be cleaned after each use. This will double its lifespan.
It is already mentioned that watertight models can be cleaned with water, while the non-water-resistant model should be cleaned with a small brush instead.
Lubricate the blades of your trimmer
From time to time, oiling the blades of your trimmer will ensure that it works for a long time without defects.
You are not required to do this every time you use the trimmer, but it does not hurt if you do this.
Before applying the oil, clean all extra hairs between the blades. Run the blades after 20-30 seconds, switch them off and wipe them away.
The final words
Our method for choosing the best stubble trimmer is based on personal experience, trimmers who have the most positive reviews and research, research, and more research.
