This lasted several months, and now the on/off button doesn't work and the device tries to stay on. Everyone has this issue. Has Wahl addressed it?
Mine usually won't turn on. I keep trying for a day or so and suddenly it's on and I can use it. What's the point of paying to send it back to the US from NZ if there's a risk I'll get one of those that won't turn off as a replacement. The paperweight note sums it up. There are way too many faulty ones out there just from the complaints on this site. In the 21C you expect almost all samples of a product to work flawlessly and they do. But not this product.
I need more combs for my trimmer, the number 1 trims my beard too low, while the number 2 trims it too high, is there any add' product that I can buy?
You can change the length of the cut based on the direction you use it. If you go with the grain of hair, the length will be slightly longer than if you go against it. There is very little difference between using the #1 with the grain of the hair and the #2 against the grain.
Can it be used with a cord, as well as cordless?
It's a strange question. The answer is no. It has a built-in battery. If the battery is empty and you plug it in, it won't work. If the battery is not empty, but is charging, it will not work until you remove the cord. So no, it cannot be used as a corded trimmer.
What are the width of the trimmer combs(in mm or cm)? I'm not asking about the cutting depths but the actual width.
There are two trimmer combs. One has a cutting surface of 1/4 inch (6 mm) and the second has a cutting surface of 1-3/8 inch (3.< > cm) cutting surface. The actual width of both combs is slightly wider, but those are the actual cutting widths. Hope that helps.
Are these waterproof and can be used in the shower?
To be honest I never use in the shower but I wash all trimer under the tap to clean everything Still everything works fine. It's my second same trimmer and I do the same things... Everything works fine but hard to say if it will really be water resistant.
How close does this cut if you are using it to shave? Will it be .5mm or closer?
I've never bothered to measure down to the mm, but it's about as close as a < > hour shadow. I routinely use it to shave close enough for work when I don't have time to get the real blade out. However, it also has a foil cutter attachment that should come even closer.
Is the battery replaceable at end of life?
It depends on how hard you want to work. You can easily reach the cell by opening the housing. There are only two wires on the cell that need to be soldered onto the new cell.
does this work to trim a longer length full beard, or just a tight to the face or stubble trim?
I think it would work well for both, it comes with a variety of attachments and guides, but I usually have it 'freehand' when trimming.
Is this clipper good for baldy hair cuts?
This is not good for cutting scalp hair. Each step of the guide is 1/16". It will cut a fine of 1/16 but will jam at 1/8". This is my second brand of battery-powered clippers, and neither has enough power to cut through the hair on your head, even if you're going bald. Great trimmer, but not good for cutting.
is it dual voltage ? 110-220?
It comes with a power adapter that can be plugged into a < > volt outlet. If you had the right adapter, I think you would have a < . can use > volt outlet. However, I do not know the voltage requirements of the trimmer. I've seen pictures of the battery and I think it's a < > volts.
