Sun Bum Original Sunscreen. Broad-spectrum sunscreen protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays. These rays are responsible for premature skin aging. They can cause sunburn and play a role in the development of skin cancer. All Sun Bum Original sunscreens are broad spectrum to help prevent skin damage. No sunscreen blocks 100% of UV rays, but a higher SPF will help if you are fair-skinned or have a history of skin cancer. Sun Bum's original sunscreens range from SPF 15 TO SPF 70. So choose the right SPF for your skin and apply it with confidence. Enriched with Vitamin E, an antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals. Vitamin E also acts as a moisturizer and can prevent premature aging. Our sunscreen is hypoallergenic and designed for even the most sensitive skin.
Is this biodegradable? We plan to wear this sunscreen when snorkeling around a reef if it's safe
As of July 2018 it says in the description that it is Oxybenzone free. I think this is the chemical that damages the reef (certainly endocrine disruptor) so this product should be safe. Here is a list of chemicals to avoid: (website included below for more information) The HELL LIST includes: Any form of microplastic spheres or beads. Any nanoparticles such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Oxybenzone Octinoxate 4-Methylbenzylidene Camphor Octocrylene Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA) Methyl Paraben Ethyl Paraben Propyl Paraben Butyl Paraben Benzyl Paraben Triclosan http://www.haereticus-lab.org/protect-land-sea-certification/
Are Sunbum products "reef safe"?
I was fooled by this brand. After doing more research, the active ingredients in this product are avobenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, and octocrylene, which are NOT reef safe. It turns out that many sunscreens that claim to be "reef friendly" or "reef safe" aren't, including this brand! Always check the active ingredients to be sure. Products containing the following ingredients are NOT reef safe: oxybenzone, avobenzone, homosalate, octinoxate, octisalate, octocrylene and/or nanoparticles
would you recommend this for facial use on sensitive or acne-prone skin? thanks
I have sensitive but non acne prone skin and I am doing great with this.
Is this Non-nano?
Not sure because of the 10% homosalate. I think homosalate at 15% may be skin irritating. However, I've never had a problem with this sunscreen, never burned or had any skin irritations. I often have very sensitive skin. Hope this helped!
What is the active ingredient in this sunscreen?
Hi Katherine! Active ingredients in our SPF 30 are: AVOBENZONE 3.00%, HOMOSALATE 5.00%, OCTISALATE 3.00%, OCTOCRYLENE 2.75%, OXYBENZONE 4.00% If there are any other questions we can answer you- drop us a line on [email protected]! Cheers, Kelly Anne Customer Service
How does it hold up in the heat? Will it get watery?
I've used it in Hawaii at 80 degrees F and never had a problem with it getting watery. It has held up well.
Is this product good for tattoos ?
I've been told that the Cool Down works well to brighten up tattoos.
Does this stain clothes?
I do not think so. I've never really paid attention to it, but I don't recall any clothes getting dirty or stained. It is a very good product.
Does this protect from A&B UV
Yes sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB rays. Parasol 1789 also offers wider coverage.
