Product Description

Style:LV95 Electric Shaver and Auto-Cleaning Charging System

The Panasonic ARC< > Men's electric shaver ES-LV95 is packed with smart, innovative features for a remarkably close and comfortable shave. The men's shaver uses a five-blade shaving system with unique outer foils and ultra-sharp inner blades to capture, hold and cut the whiskers cleanly at the base. The blades and foils are made of hypoallergenic stainless steel to minimize irritation to sensitive skin. The hyper-performance linear motor drives blades for < >,< > shaves per minute for a fast, close shave. An Intelligent Shave Sensor detects the beard density and adjusts the cutting speed for more comfort. The pivoting Multi-Flex head floats along the contours of your face for a close shave, especially around the chin, neck and jaw. A pop-out trimmer cuts stray hair and details sideburns and mustache. The wet/dry design lets you shave in the shower or bath, with or without cream, or dry anytime. The Li-Ion battery offers up to 40 minutes of use after 1 hour of charging and the Premium Clean and Charge system cleans, dries and charges the shaver automatically. Universal voltage, travel lock and travel pouch are ideal for travel. To maintain peak performance, replace blades and foils when dull. Inner blades: WES9170P; Outer foil: WES9173P; Combination of inner sheet/outer film: WES9032P.

I always end up having problems with the cleaning station. Anyone have any issues with this model?

Yes, the pump stopped after < > months. I use the stand to charge and dry the shaver after manual cleaning. You can only get the drive as a repair part, but it costs $100 plus shipping. I have failed two of the previous types for various reasons. The razors are very reliable. It's a shame they can't make an automatic cleaning base that lasts.

Is this a super close shave? Because I do not like shavers that are not super close shaves.

An absolutely super close shave. Much depends on the perfection of your technique: use a small amount of moisture of any kind during the last minute or two so that the skin swells/rolls when the shaving head is pressed over. This exposes the roots of the whiskers to the cutters. The result is an ultra-close shave, comparable to the Gillette razor.

I just got this shaver (without a cleaning base) and in Manual I don't see any mention of putting oil on the blades. Does it need to be oiled?

Metal rubbing on metal < >,< > must be lubricated once a minute. The blades are way too expensive to replace often, so proper lubrication will ensure they last a long time and stay sharp. I use baby oil on the blades every time before shaving and wipe off the excess with a tissue.

Is this model made in Japan?

Yes, it is made in Japan.

In terms of closeness, how does this compare to your typical Gillette fusion blades? Does it approach closeness?

Closer to all Gillete or disposable blades. I use foil type electrics for < > years and can tell you without a doubt that this razor will surprise you with how close the shave is. It takes a little time to learn how to use an electrical appliance, but you will notice the difference right away. Most people who have never used an electric razor are amazed at how close the shave is compared to shaving with a blade. IMHO Panasonic has made a solid product since they hit the market, this is great.

Between the Braun Series 7 or 9 and the Panasonic Arc 5, which is more comfortable?

While Amazon won't allow me to give you the website, there is a posted review of exactly what you're asking. In a nutshell, Ovidiu Nicolae says that while the Braun < > is less annoying, the Panasonic Arc < > wins nearby. To upgrade your Arc < > foil to the latest generation, you can search for "Panasonic Replacement Blade Set for 5-blade ES9036 (Compatible ES9034 ES9032)" The next-gen foil is said to reduce the irritation.

How much does it cost to replace all of the blades, assuming you have to do that once a year (maybe twice)? Sounds like there's multiple parts?

Panasonic recommends replacing the film every year and the blades every two years. However, I haven't seen any foil sold on its own. If you want to "upgrade" your shaver foil to the latest generation, you can order "Panasonic Replacement Blade Kit for ES9036 with 5 Blades (Compatible ES9034 ES9032)" which will be shipped from Japan.

Can I use it in the shower

can you relplace the batteries?

If you are handy with a soldering iron, you can; however, you need to have some expertise when putting it back together. There are many unusable parts inside and they all go back in an esoteric way that is not obvious. There is no guide to doing this as this is not something Panasonic recommends. There are instructions in the manual to remove the battery (as you are supposed to recycle the battery before disposing of the shaver). Basically, you would CAREFULLY reverse these instructions. If you're good enough for that, you still need to make sure you close it properly. This is a waterproof gadget, submersible to < > meter and for use in the shower. If you don't close the compartment properly, you could shock yourself and/or short out the components...... I wouldn't advise this, but it's a free country (assuming you're in America).

This would be my first electric shaver and ishave in the shower. Is this completely waterproof?

It is completely waterproof. I have been using the Panasonic shower shaver for over < > year. They are the best. I recommend that you change the blades every < > months to ensure a better shave, as well as the screen covering the blades.
