I had it with five stars because it deserves it, so it's a shame they have a low-cost power plug. It will not work unless it is doubled in a certain way after a year and a half and, sometimes, it does not stay that way and ends without charging. None of my other devices powered by similar plugs has come out that way, why this one? Other critics say the same thing too. I had to buy a second single to replace it because they do not sell the plug only. It's so good that I would reorder it but I should not.

This is by far the best electric razor I have ever had. I am the kind of person who does hours and hours of research before basically buying anything, and sometimes it takes a bit of trial and error. I bought the Andis T-Outliner for the first time since it had excellent reviews. It was a beast, but not what I was looking for. If I worked at a hairdresser, I'm sure I would have loved it. I compared this beard trimmer very carefully and read the reviews here and on Google. This seemed to be the best of the group. You're wondering about the title, right? I bought the most expensive BT5210 / 41 because I wanted the comb that comes with it. I was not sure it was worth it, but the $ 10 coupon (now suddenly $ 15) caused the price difference to disappear greatly. My comments on the Basic trimmer (BT5210 / 42) are just 5-star comments, so I will not insist. Here, the outstanding assets of this product are: 1. Very powerful, it does the job of a yeoman by eliminating heavy debris, 2. Very flexible with the ability to mark on a wide range of cutting heights from half an inch to 64 inches. , which allows you to remove enough facial hair without beard to possibly avoid a second shave with a safety razor, 3. allows cutting with cable, if preferred or if the load runs out, 4. is fully recharged in 1 hour versus possibly 8 hours with some trimmers, 4) does not require greasing, 5. washes with running water. In general, I am very happy with the purchase. I was used to trimmers from $ 20 to $ 30, so the build quality of this really surprised me. Does a great job to trim body hair with the included guide. For my beard I like to use 5mm for a clean appearance. It also does a good job cleaning the hairline of the neck without cutting my skin. I have had this since April 2018 and it has worked very well for me. Like many others, I was looking to replace an old mower and I had trouble finding a suitable option, but this one is great. I looked through the negative reviews and many of them seem ridiculous. Do you like noise? Hahaha It's a trimmer, it's not going to be quiet ... it's not loud at all, almost the average in the noise department. This is the fifth and, hopefully, the last trimmer that I will buy. The previous four were all the cheap types you would find at Marshall's or TJMAX. The last two I bought were a rechargeable Remington that lasted only 20 minutes and then I got the Gillette Styler. You should go again and again and I have very thick hair. With the four combined I spent more than with the Panasonic. I have used it three times from the box to trim my beard and I have not loaded it once because it was partially charged. What I also like about this is different from the others I had, my hair does not move everywhere. I have not used it to cut my hair as I have always done and I have a Wahl trimmer, but it is always a project, so I hope this also replaces it. Oh, and it has a built-in side trimmer or neck trimmer that also works very well. Spend the extra money, since it will be paid only over time.

Here is my review after using it after almost 2 months. I have to say that this is a pretty amazing shaver. One thing to keep in mind about this shaver is that every time you use it is very important, but the oil from the blades or the shaver will pull your hair if you put the oil in a smooth shave. This shaver does not come with an accessory to soften, so the small stubble can be there, but I can usually remove them all. It has a dial in it that you can adjust to the configuration you want depending on what you are using it for. It comes with 3 accessories, one is an accessory for shaving the body, one for the hair and one for the beard. Also, the brush that comes with it is pretty useless, you really can not get anything out, so if you get it, I'd recommend that you keep your brush. It is waterproof and has small grooves so you can clean the razor without any problem, so do not worry. It is a great shaver and I highly recommend it if you are willing to take care of it.

After my 10-year vacuum, Norelco finally died, I needed a new cutter. I use one to buzz my head, trim my beard and make some captures. So the inclusion of the body comb was an obvious choice. This cuts very well. Nice sharp blades. The guards are sturdy and securely fastened. The dial is positive and does not slip. The body comb works quite well. It is the closest you can get and at the same time offers some protection. Be careful with the wedding vegetables, since loose skin may still be nicked. The short comb is soft and perfect for a stepped mix of my beard and to buzz my head to the lowest level. It washes very well. The pop-up trimmer works well for the edges of the whiskers. It is not completely waterproof, but it is the problem when you can use it plugged in. I prefer to have the last one. It is very silent. I like that. Good purchase in general. Very pleased!

PROs: wireless system keeps charging long and reloading is efficient, multiple cutting depths / heights (much more than the standard Wahl system), ergonomic in the hands for sure, very quiet. CONCESSIONS: does not cut my sons 2 years old and has fairly soft hair, I have to keep the trimmer running over his head again and again, so he stops cutting hair too quickly (so now I will not use it and therefore bought it)), the small trimming section under the main blade does not switch on or off independently, so you can catch yourself on the small trimmer section - no bueno. I would not buy again but will use to trim my beard so that it gets 3 stars.

How long does the battery last (not a single charge, but its lifetime)? Also, can this be used for lining beard/back of neck/behind ears?

The expected life goal of Beardscape is very dependent on the use, loading habits, the place where it is stored, etc. We wait a minimum of 5 years, but this could be much longer. Yes, it can be used to line beards / necks / ears.

What is the purpose to have adjustable blade height when you have the assorted guards?

The adjustable blade allows very small adjustments (1.0 - 1.9 mm). These can be used with and without the guards. The small adjustments without the protectors are better for the appearance of the stubble or the cutting of the body hair, while the use of the micro-adjustment with the protectors placed allows a greater veracity of the lengths of cut.

I have used the Brio Beardscape for about six weeks and have used it several times; enough, I think, to know what I like and what is not about this trimmer. To give some context to my review, I will say that my beard is quite hard, it does not grow straight and it is salt and pepper (more salt, lately). I like to keep it somewhere between a long stubble and a very short beard, without hard and defined lines, but graduated in a way that looks natural and balances my face (sorry if it is TMI). The good: as others have noticed, the Beardscape has sharp blades. It gives a good clean cut. No broken hairs or "beards". The engine is strong and silent. The battery charge lasts a long time. The screen is good, except for the "load" I discovered that is always on while Beardscape is running. The adjustment feature of the blade is very good, and it is a very good idea. It is a beautiful mower that feels solid in my hand. And the packaging is well made (small details like this can say a lot about a product). The least good: I have two main problems with him. Landscape for the beard; The width of the head and the accessories of guide comb. The head of this trimmer is wide, almost half again as wide as the Norelco 7300 that I have been using for approximately 6 years. This trimmer was excellent. I had an older trimmer that I could not maintain well with a stubble look that I wanted. Now I have a "shaped" unshaven look that I keep cutting to a 3-4-day growth look. Now it is very easy to maintain that look by turning on the lowest attachment for trimming, just as I prefer. It comes with many attachments, more than I will ever use, but maybe someday I will need them. Attachments are easy to replace and very easy to clean. I can't believe how it's being charged. The trimmer arrived at my home on 8 September. I charged it and since then I don't have to charge anymore (today is December 2). I used it every other day to crop the face. (I waited until it went down, but so far it's just as if I had just disconnected it). This is good because I do not have to take a charger with me when I am traveling. Anyway, I recommend this trimmer.

I have this care set to cut my own hair. The clips click securely and intuitively without problems and fit well. I have not used the nose abbreviation or the other silver thing (I actually do not know what that is for) but I am sure they will work just as well as the others. The battery life seems good because I have cut my hair with them about 3-4 times (at 20-30 minutes per use) and I have not noticed any signs of battery I also use the naked mode to cover the hair of my cat between the toe beans. It's very safe and it seems hard to cut yourself with this unless you really try. In general I am very satisfied with the purchase and the quality of the device.

This trimmer works great. I use it for keeping a short amount of hair (such as a 5 pm shade) and I have a goatee. Maybe this is a general warning, but with the shortest part of the guide I cut my lip and a mole on my face, both bleeding a little. Because this is my first real trimmer (I've always used my razor that never cut my face), this might be something to watch out for with all trimmers. order of their size. They are now thrown into a small bowl and I have to search every time I want the next size clip. Because they look so similar, I have to fit a few to find the next size. A tray that keeps them in order saves you real-time. This is one of those little things that would make a big difference. Unlike these two things, I am pretty happy with it, it cuts evenly and the nose trimmer works great.

I received this to replace a Norelco trimmer that I used for so many years that it started to get boring. A few first impressions: Advantages: Smaller and lighter, which is nice. Works well and cuts tight. Precision trimmer and nose / ear trimmer attachments are great. Cons: No indicator light for charging. My old one had a light that flashes during charging and stays on when it is being charged. No way to know when it is charged. The old man had a vacuum that would suck in a room that was easy to empty. Not this one, so pruning comes all over me. I have to shower after use. The old one had a height-adjustable thing. It has many attachments for this purpose, most of which I will never use. The plus points outweigh the disadvantages for me, so I give it 4 stars. There are many choices of trimmers and I should have done more research.

I would say about three passes and you already have it. The guard is a tough plastic. I have had other shavers. I really like this one. It feels great in your hand.

The information pamphlet included states how to dispose of the battery & alludes to a "battery replacement service" Can I purchase a new battery?

I just replaced the battery in mine. Look in "aa battery welding" for a suitable AA size NiMH battery with solder terminals. Someone with a # 1 slim Phillips screwdriver and a soldering iron can replace it quite easily (routing small wires is the only real challenge). I put a 2300mAh cell in mine and it works like new, better probably because the cell has much more capacity than the previous one.

Hi, i have this trimmer, i live in argentine where the voltage is 220v, i see in the box of the trimmer 220 / 110" but in the charger only say "110v".

I just returned from Argentina a couple of days ago. While I was there I had to charge the device. Not knowing what would happen, I connected it and loaded it. The result, fried the charger. Now I am back online to buy a completely new device and charger. Learn from my mistake, do not connect it to a 220 volt source.

What is the height and width of the comb? I'm not asking about the cutting depths but the actual height and width of the comb(in mm or cm).

I bought this beard trimmer about a year and a half ago. I love the fact that I can take it in the shower and cut everything and then go back out and for any detailed work that may be necessary. I am a person who really likes that most of my toilet is done in the shower so that the hair disappears down the drain. I never had the battery exhausted before I finished trimming. General maintenance is easy and I cut my hair evenly. My only major problem with the product is that there are no additional accessories available to buy it. Recently I wanted to grow my beard for longer, but I want it to look good. Unfortunately, the provided beard comb only reaches 1 cm (or 10 mm). At 1 cm, it just does not provide enough length to keep a nice thick beard (1 cm actually is not very long). And that would be fine if Panasonic had some kind of additional beard combs available to increase the length of the beard cut. I would buy them in addition to the original trimmer. However, now I face the purchase of a completely new trimmer with more accessories to get the molding I want, although the product still works well.

I had a Panasonic that my son gave me for Christmas about 6 years ago. He was quite good and did his job well. I was a little clumsy with all the attachments, but I got used to it until it finally faded away. This Milano is a true step forward of that. Easy to use, silent, tactile, easy to clean, excellent cutting ability with my very fine hair and looks really good just hanging in the bathroom. I have seen some videos and they can not equally represent the hands in use and the length marking capacity of this small machine. Actually I'm using this more than the previous one because of that. I have been shaving for three years with an older, more basic iteration of this beard trimmer; that someone’s inability to hold a load nowadays is the cause of this search. But the new one has two updates that have made it the best I’ve tried:

(1) a handy radial turntable that lets you easily choose lengths of 0.5 mm (and in increments of 0.5 mm), making it versatile to become; and (2) a vacuum suction function that collects the bulk of your shaved hair – according to the company as high as 90 percent, but who knows? I can only say that this is a godsend. Nobody likes to wipe the stubble of his (or his boyfriend) from the sink, and I am willing to tackle the somewhat clumsy hand feeling of this shaver to earn that reward.

I wanted to stop giving a review until I had used this for a considerable time to address the quality and durability of the timmer, as there were some revisions that mentioned the plastic guards / guides that broke in them. Well, I bought this at the end of August 2016 and it is currently October 2017, so I think I can offer a fair perspective on this. In short: this is an absolutely amazing clipper, and I can not imagine * not * having it (or a similar one). I usually keep a relatively short beard (~ 3-5 mm) and what I hated the most was when it was time to cut it: my previous trimmer threw the small cuts * everywhere * and often had to spend the same time trying to clean the sink / countertop from the bathroom of the tiny pieces of facial hair as I did by trimming my beard. It got to the point where I would actually come out onto our porch to trim my beard so I would not have to clean the sink / counter (or disturb my wife with the numerous small pieces that managed to land outside the sink). With the 7200, I no longer have to trim my beard on the porch. The first few times I shaved with this, I did it on the sink ... and then: there was basically nothing to clean in the bathroom! Now I can almost cut it anywhere and, assuming that the vacuum system is not full, only a minimal amount of the trimmings will not be caught by the trimmer (so little that it is essentially a negligent amount). My biggest "against this trimmer is that I still try to put the head and / or the plastic length guide / protector in the wrong way, there is something in the angles and shapes of the trimmer / bistur that makes me want to put it on I read some other reviews that mentioned that they broke their plastic length guide, and I suspect that the reason for this is probably because they tried to put it incorrectly and used too much force.Another advantages in this regard are: an unhealthy battery capacity I have not yet had the battery in my trimmer's battery, and I only connect it to charge it, maybe once every 3-6 weeks (and I use the trimmer probably 2-3 times a week) It's quite silent, It does an excellent job of trimming and using it feels good.I also like very much the ability to adjust the length of the trimming to a precision of 0.5 mm.Some minor drawbacks: due to the size / shape of the head, you can s It was difficult to cut the area right under the nose. The wide cutting head makes it difficult if you want to make a quick cut of the hairline over the ears (and the change to the smaller and later precision cutting head takes longer than actual trimming). So, would you recommend this? If you have more facial hair trim instead of shaving, absolutely! But if you have something like a knob, then I'm not really sure if the benefits of the beard trim collection will really outweigh the 7200's discomfort when making a more precise cut. But, perhaps the most important thing: my WIFE would recommend it? Absolutely! And he already has several of his friends whose husbands have facial hair! She has been very, very pleased to find no more small beard cuts around the sink and countertop.

Once I discovered my first Norelco vacuum cutter about 10 years ago, my life changed. Dramatically reduced the amount of hair left in the sink and simplified cleaning. But 10 years is a long time for a mower! It still worked, but when you put it in "turbo" mode, it will finally show an "E" (error) on the screen. And after 10 years, I got a little more 'grabby' with my hair. Then, I replaced it with another from the same company and the first shave was such a smooth experience. Without grabbing my hair, without cuts, I sucked almost everything, and as easy as the previous trimmer. This version eliminates unnecessary digital reading of the established length and only uses the numbers on the rotating center wheel to indicate length, which is much smarter, since there are fewer errors in simple systems. Honestly, I do not know if I'll ever use two of the attachments, for me I do not use guard when I shave my face to always have a bit of stubble (I do not like the baby face!) And then I use the main guard in a standard length when I trim my knob. I gave him a Norelco vacuum beard trimmer as a gift for a friend who was literally using scissors to try to keep his beard at a certain length. This is much easier!

Of all the products I tried, it was by far the least heavy, the easiest to use and the most versatile – with an integrated knife guide that felt solid, and the user could achieve dozens of different lengths by simply turning a knob.

It’s not the best shaver I’ve used in any way – it does not pull stubble or has a cool standard or does the most precise trimming, but I can imagine it would be handy for men who want to trim a trimmer for days a beard to trim, trim and otherwise perfect what is longer.

Unlike many of the others, you can flood the whole thing, making the blades cleaner, sharper, and better suited to any obsessive facial hair strategy.

This version is the second gene shaver from Braun. The first gene lasted about 2 years and the battery died. I found the shaver very good, so I went for the new one. This is also very nice, but after 6 months the clipper is boring and does not cut as well anymore. Also the dial for adjusting the length does not stay right on the selected number. You have to be very careful with it, otherwise you cut shorter than you want.

Work is great for long beards. I have expanded mine but had to fix it up. Most of the time I try to trim and cut way too much in areas and eventually I have to cut it off and start over. With this trimmer you can trim it much longer and you do not have to work to get rid of the beard. I would recommend it.

Battery reasonably under impressive, both in terms of overall power and need to recharge after a short use. Blade runs slower than my Wahl plug trimmers (call it 8.5 / 10 and significantly slower than Wahl plugin hair clippers (10/10). Starting with a full charge, they rise (8/10) and immediately start pulling the battery down they slow down to 7.5 for about ten minutes and for another ten minutes to 6. The only option right now is to connect the battery and charge it With conductor tips the 10 pieces with normal hair clippers are reduced to just 2 Less power, less sharp blades with fewer teeth per inch than the Wahl means more passes are needed to achieve the same accuracy, and if you run longer, the battery will run low for fast movements and movements are they okay use it .. I would not buy again

Replaced a Wahl trimmer with this. Excellent quality from Braun as always. Trimmer has made excellent work of my thick beard without missing a beat, pulling, or tugging. There are more sizes than one would ever need. Cleaning is a breeze with the washability. I wish it had a Li-Ion battery instead of a Ni-MH but that's not big enough of a deal breaker to keep it from getting 5*'s. You won't regret this trimmer, and your beard will thank you.

Is it suppose to shake a decent amount? I just got mine and while I enjoy the shave it gives me, it shakes and moves more than I thought it would. I am used to using a regular razor so i'm wondering if its just the norm? Thanks

It does vibrate rather strongly... it is a Strong motor for such a small device. As long as it makes a smooth sounding humming noise while you shave... then it is operating Perfectly. Please Remember that After EACH use you should spray the blade with Andis Lubricant.

Does this work well with the texture of hair for an African American male?

Yes! This does work very well for the texture hair for African Americans and is highly recommended among-st the culture for dry shaving, fades , & lines and is commonly used in Barber shops for that sharp look.

Bottom line up front: if you suffer from razor bumps and ingrown hairs this is the product for you. My job requires me to shave daily and for years I've been the subject of annoying razor bumps and ugly in grown hairs (as is typical of black men because of the nature of our hair). I was recommended these clippers by a friend and after reading some reviews and being tired of having my face be ground zero for ingrown hairs I gave these a shot and boy am I happy I did! I gave myself a week to grow out my beard and then started using these to dry shave every day. My face is 100% clear of razor bumps and ingrown hairs and I couldn't be happier. I'll admit nothing beats a razor to the face when it comes to a close shave but these clippers get pretty darn close so that you can't even tell the difference. My only wish was that these were cordless and rechargeable. Nonetheless, I highly recommend these to anyone who suffers from and is fed up with razor bumps and ingrown hairs.

I have owned a lot of trimmers through the years and this is clearly the best.Extremely high quality and long lasting.I have been using it regularly for 5 years and it has never given any trouble.Finally replaced the original blades last month and now it is even better.But make sure you keep the blades lubricated if you want them to last.This is what Barbers use so if you want the best then get this.

I've been in search of a stubble clipper food my face that will last, and have finally found it. This bad boy is quieter than all the others I have tried and is extremely heavy duty. I've gone through many others like Remington and Norelco, but they are nowhere as close on quality. Dropped it by accident. plastic guard broke. any idea where/how i find a replacement? seems like a waste to have to buy a whole new device.

Can you cut hair with it too

Mainly geared towards stubble and beard. However, if you have short hair, this could possibly work. Some other product, with a multi-functioning aspect, would be a better choice.

is this a good beard trimmer? there are no reviews on it

After having a very similar model for about 4-5 years with an adjustable guard, it seems like a good trimmer after a couple weeks of use. The battery and overall power seems better than my previous Norelco trimmer. My one major complaint is that the guard is poorly designed and only supported on one side. This is the side with the adjustable arm. So it's more or less the guard and then a plastic plate that slides into the trimmer that can slide up or down by adjusting the dial on the trimmer to cut at different lengths from the blades. The other side of the guard is completely unsupported and because it's plastic it can flex. If you aren't really careful while using it, the guard can flex inward and trim shorter than desired. It took a couple times of use to learn how to gently glide the trimmer over my beard to prevent gouging in certain areas. I don't know why they would put such a flimsy guard on an otherwise well made trimmer. However, at the price and with a little care during use it has worked well for me so far. Hope this helps.

Do I really need 20 built-in length settings? because there's one with 10 built-in settings. Mid thick facial hair.

You probably don't need 20 settings, but the real benefit is knowing that no matter the length you keep your beard, you'll have a setting that should work - no matter how long I keep my beard, I'll find a setting that works - etc.

I actually paid for this trimmer. Feels a little ridiculous since Philips apparently gives these things away like there's no tomorrow if the sponsored comments are any indication. But rest assured, I actually bought it and owe the manufacturer nothing.So, it's a nice trimmer. When I was shopping around on here, I was mainly concentrating on device maintenance and the versatility of the device without an army of additional attachments. For me, I use a few different settings to trim my beard, longer on my face, closer on the moustache, no guard for shaping. And this thing does a good job. The guard feels fairly stout, like it won't be giving out or cracking anytime soon. The device doesn't appear to be overly needy or anything like that, though the instruction manual for any trimmer will essentially recommend you give the thing a full spa treatment and dinner out at The Palm before and after each use. Very quick charge, one hour will turn the light solid green which (allegedly) will last for two hours of use, though I haven't tested that yet. If all that turns out to be true (and it did fully charge within one hour), I don't think you can get better than that in terms of charge vs. usage. Anyway, the rotating dial that adjusts the guard is fine, certainly nothing to freak about in terms of innovation. Just a little gimmick thing. I guess more than anything the motor on the thing just really tears, so you feel like you're getting a good cut.It's just a nice device, perhaps a little heavy on the price at $40, but quite honestly, you don't have to buy trimmers very often in my experience. Are you going to regret dropping $40 on a device that directly impacts how you like to look and will probably not have to replace for the next five years? Personally, I doubt it. I think there's definite value in the long run. I have no problem cutting corners or going cheap on plenty of other stuff, but why on a beard trimmer? Just seems short-sighted when you're going to use the thing at least a few times a month and on your face.Oh, and the last thing about this thing that I really like is the lack of attachments. It's just one guard/comb trimmer with 20 settings, one mini brush thing for cleaning it, the power cord, and one little bag if you want to use it. I think that's pretty great streamlining, especially if you travel. No one wants to pack like they're going to a barber's convention.

I love the dial-a-depth adjustment and the simplicity of a single comb attachment. I don't want to be storing and changing combs for every different length I want to trim. Its the reason I bought this one. It goes as short as .5 mm, and goes up in .5 mm adjustments from there. But really, once past, say, 2 mm, 1 mm increments would be fine. Though that would be more difficult to do with the way this dial works, so I understand why they didn't.This thing is powerful, the charge lasts a long time, and I just love everything about it. Except for One Thing. And its a big thing for me. The way the comb is designed, you have to hold the device at just the correct precise angle to get it to trim to the exact length the dial is set for. That's not an issue at all if you're using any of the lengths beyond say, 2 mm. Your hair doesn't grow perfectly evenly, so its perhaps a more natural appearance if every hair isn't the exact same length. But if you're using this for one of its signature features, the stubble look, its a huge problem. You dial the comb for .5 mm, but unless you've got it at the exact correct angle, you're really cutting to maybe 1 to 2 mm. So you end up with some parts of your face close to .5 mm, but most of the rest of it somewhere between 1 mm - 2 mm. To get them all close to .5 mm, you have to keep going over and over and over the same areas, each time trying to find that elusive angle to get the full depth of cut.What this replaces is a super cheapo, and old, AA battery powered trimmer with dull blades and a finicky power switch. that thing has this sliding comb that you manually extend to desired length. There are no marks to indicate length, you just guess. It has detents to set the comb at specific positions, but you can easily set it to any spot between those set spots. It can go as short as .5 mm. This old piece 'o junk works way better than this new, much more costly, sophisticated name brand device, all because of the design shape of its comb. The old unit cuts to the length you set. Sure, if you really hold it at an off angle, it cuts a little longer than you have it set for. But the sweet spot, where it cuts to, or very, very close to the length you set it to, is wide. Meanwhile for this Norelco trimmer, the sweet spot is elusive.If you aren't going to use the stubble feature, this thing is excellent. If you are buying it for the stubble feature, be prepared to endure the abrasion, and time, involved in repeatedly going over the same areas over and over, trying to obtain the setting you've dialed in on the knob.

I bought this based on prior reviews, which is a strategy that's worked pretty well for me in the past (thanks Amazon reviews), but this time I'm just leaving than impressed.What can I say about this trimmer?Well . . . it's okay. I mean, it's fine. It works. It trims my beard. It's adjustable. I was hoping the typo in the description that said it was adjustable out to 2 cm was accurate, but it isn't. But I didn't really expect it to be, since there are no beard trimmers out there that think you need your beard to be any longer than 1 cm. That's just the industry apparently, so it's not really a knock against this trimmer in particular.It's pretty loud, I suppose. And it's not waterproof. And the plastic feels kind of cheap and brittle. And the rounded end of the guard doesn't do much to comb or lift hairs in order to trim them. One wonders if they're just being tamped and smoothed down instead. Should help the blade life that way, I suppose. So there's that.So my fiscally calculated step down from my Panasonic to appease my loving other half has not really borne the feature packed fruit I'd hoped it would.I should have expected that from the price. I suppose I technically did, but you're always hopeful that you'll end up being surprised.With this one, you won't. It's exactly the thirty dollars trimmer you'd expect it to be and absolutely no more. It'll trim your beard, but it won't really make you feel good about it.

When my trusty old Norelco was recently commandeered for “sanitary trim” of our cat, I set about looking for an exact replacement. For 20+ years I had my QT4021 and it’s predecessor, which was identical but for the guide color. It was a simple, sturdy, highly-usable design, at a fair price point. I would have thought little more than a lithium battery upgrade was warranted. No such luck. So into the maze of products and reviews I wandered, thinking back to the simplicity of buying my last two off the shelf at Walgreens, sans any starred feedback. I considered ones with vacuums and others meant for beard, body and more and just couldn’t get a clear picture in my head of how they would improve on what i had. So I went simple, and it seems to have turned out well. With the exception of the slightly changed blade angle and the ridiculous half-steps on the dial, I guess this is as close as they make to a direct replacement of my old one. I’m including some comparison photos, on the off-chance you are looking for the same thing I was.

Stubble trimmer vs beard trimmer Is there much difference?

It is important to solve a problem first: a beard trimmer is not necessarily the same as a stubble knife. Most beard trimmers can make large stubble, but not all stubble teams can effectively trim long beards: and then some models are great for all purposes.

So understanding your requirements will help. Do you want to look like Ryan Gosling (big stubble), tame a much longer beard, or do you want the option for both?

Stubble – Everything is in the length!

What makes a stubble cutter different from a beard trimmer? Length settings. A stubble model should be able to trim your facial hair extremely short, as short as 0.3-0.5 mm (approximately 1/64 inch) for the 5-hour clock shadow look.

The longest setting you need depends on your preferences, but a maximum of 5 mm (approximately 1/5 inch) gives you sufficient flexibility when trimming and shaping large five or ten days of stubble.

If you really want short stubble, then you want to make sure that the clipper can mow safely without a comb. This does not produce the same smooth shave that you would get with a razor, but it can leave a layer of fine stubble without touching stubble. This is a great option for men with very sensitive skin or acne – the Philips one blade (listed below) works very well for sensitive skin.

Beards – Short and long

Because we have already discussed hair length, we will continue. Shorter beards require a trimmer that can be adjusted from 2-5 mm, you want to trim up to 10 mm for average beards, and lumberjacks must be able to hit 20 mm or more.
